Hi, I’m Samia*.

I’m an independent audio storyteller, writer, and science communicator based in Philadelphia. I work in English, Spanish, and French, telling stories that cross cultures, connect us to the cosmos, and celebrate the extraordinary in the ordinary.

I’m currently a senior producer for the podcast Lost Women of Science, where I led the production of the bilingual series The Extraordinary Life & Tragic Death of Evangelina Rodríguez. I am also a producer and mix engineer for the podcast Entanglements, by Undark Magazine. Previously, I worked as a podcast producer and sound designer at Adonde Media, making podcasts for Duolingo.

Alongside my podcast work, I write scripts for science YouTube channels, including SciShow and Be Smart.

I have a B.S. in astrophysics from Rutgers University, where I did research on supernova cosmology. Later, I went to the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY for an M.A. in journalism, with a concentration in science reporting.

You can find more details about my experience in my CV or on LinkedIn, or browse some of my projects on this site. If you’d like to work together, get in touch!

*I pronounce my name SAM-ya boo-ZEED.
